Tokyo After Midnight

Five nights on foot through Shinjuku, Shibuya and the backstreets of Golden Gai — chasing reflections after the rain.

The brief

The brightest city, at its quietest hour

Tokyo never truly sleeps, but after midnight it exhales. The commuter tides pull back, the signage stays lit, and the streets belong to taxi drivers, noodle steam and the occasional insomniac photographer.

I walked each night from 11pm to 4am with one body, one fast 35mm lens, and no tripod — trading perfect sharpness for the freedom to move with the crowd instead of standing apart from it.
