My Story
I walk. I wait. I shoot.
Alpenglow Trail Photography is a one-person expedition studio based in Boulder, Colorado — eleven years, forty-odd countries, and one stubborn habit: returning to the same ridge until the light agrees.
How it started
A borrowed camera and a one-way bus ticket
In 2014 I borrowed a battered DSLR and rode a bus into the San Juan Mountains for a long weekend. I came home with 800 frames of lopsided horizons — and one shot, taken at dawn through a sleeting windshield, that made my chest hurt. I’ve been chasing that feeling ever since.
Since then the work has taken me from Tokyo crossings at 2am to Bedouin camps in Wadi Rum to horseback routes above 4,000 meters in Peru. The kit got lighter, the walks got longer, and the rulebook shrank to a single line: walk far, wait longer, and let the place do the talking.

The studio where prints are born
Every expedition ends at this desk: two calibrated screens, a stack of proof prints, and strong opinions about paper texture. Each keeper is hand-edited, test-printed, and editioned in small runs — never drop-shipped, never auto-filtered.
Limited editions of 25. Signed, numbered, and shipped flat from Boulder with a certificate of authenticity.
